Privacy Policy

App: MoveMouse  ·  Developer: Cool Artifacts  ·  Effective date: 2026-07-01

This Privacy Policy describes how Cool Artifacts (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use the MoveMouse mobile application (“App”).

1. What Data We Collect

MoveMouse is designed to work entirely on your device over a local Bluetooth connection. We collect and store as little data as possible.

Bluetooth device name (stored locally only): The human-readable name of computers you have paired with (e.g. “Max’s PC”) is saved on your device in private app storage to enable automatic reconnection. The Bluetooth MAC address of your computer is stored by Android’s own Bluetooth bonding system at the operating-system level — not by the App — and is managed and deleted by Android when you remove the pairing.

App settings: Your preferences (sensitivity, dead zone, left-hand mode, toggles) are stored locally on your device only.

Usage session data (stored locally only): To decide when to ask for a Play Store rating, the App tracks the following counters locally: whether a Bluetooth connection was made in the current session, whether you visited the troubleshooting guide, the number of consecutive positive sessions, and the foreground time of the current session. None of this data leaves your device.

Macro recording (RAM only): When you use the macro recording feature, the App captures mouse movements, button clicks, and keyboard input in your device’s RAM to build a replayable sequence. This data exists only in memory during the active recording session and is discarded as soon as you stop the recording or close the App. It is never written to persistent storage and never transmitted.

Support email (user-initiated only): The troubleshooting screen includes a button that opens your email client with a pre-filled support message containing your device manufacturer, model, Android version, and app version. If you choose to send that email, we receive your email address and the pre-filled device information. Your email address is used solely to reply to your support request and is not stored beyond the email thread, not shared with any third party, and not used for marketing.

Crash diagnostics data (transmitted to Google/Firebase): To keep the App stable, the App uses Google Firebase Crashlytics. When the App crashes or hits a handled error, Crashlytics collects a diagnostic report containing the error stack trace, your device manufacturer, model and Android version, a randomly generated installation identifier, and recent non-personal in-app event logs (for example, Bluetooth connection outcomes). This information is processed by Google as described in Section 2 and is not linked to your name or contact details. The App does not use analytics.

We do not collect or transmit your name, precise location, browsing history, contacts, or the content of your macros. Apart from the crash diagnostics described above and the advertising data described in Section 2, we collect no other personal data.

2. Third-Party Data Collection

Google AdMob: The App displays non-personalised advertisements served by Google AdMob. The App does not use the Android Advertising ID and never requests personalised or targeted ads. To deliver non-personalised ads, Google may still process limited device information for ad delivery, frequency capping and fraud prevention, including:

• Device type and operating system version

• General location (country/region level, derived from IP address)

This data is processed by Google under Google’s own Privacy Policy. You can further limit ad tracking in your Android device settings under Privacy → Ads.

Google Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy

Google Firebase Crashlytics: The App uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to report crashes so we can fix bugs. Crashlytics may collect:

• Crash and diagnostic data (stack traces, handled-error reports, breadcrumb logs of non-personal in-app events)

• Device information (manufacturer, model, operating system version)

• A randomly generated Firebase installation identifier

Google processes this data as a data processor on our behalf, under Google’s Privacy Policy and the Firebase terms. It is used only for crash diagnostics, is not sold, and is not used to identify you personally. The App does not use Firebase Analytics or any other analytics.

Firebase Privacy & Security: firebase.google.com/support/privacy

Google Play In-App Reviews: The App may ask you to rate it on the Play Store after a series of positive usage sessions. This request is handled entirely by Google’s Play Core library. Any rating or review you submit is subject to Google Play’s terms. The App does not receive or store your review content.

3. Permissions Explained

BLUETOOTH_CONNECT & BLUETOOTH_SCAN (Android 12+): Required to connect to and communicate with your computer as a Bluetooth HID device. Used exclusively for this purpose.

ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION (Android 10–11): On Android 10 and 11, Google requires apps to hold the Fine Location permission to scan for Bluetooth devices. The App does not access or record your location; this permission is a platform requirement for Bluetooth discovery on those Android versions only and is not requested on Android 12 and above.

POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+): Required to display notifications related to background task activity. The App may show the following notifications — none of which are used for marketing or tracking:

Background task notification (persistent): Shown while random movement or loop playback is actively running in the background. It displays the feature name and the connected device, and includes a Stop button to end the task without reopening the App.

Task stopped notification: Shown once when the App is removed from recent apps while a background task was running, to inform you that the task has ended.

Task interrupted notification: Shown once if the system terminates a running background task due to memory pressure, prompting you to reopen the App.

WAKE_LOCK: Acquired during macro playback to prevent the CPU from sleeping mid-replay. Released immediately when playback ends or the connection is lost.

4. No Accounts, No Cloud

The App does not require you to create an account, and there is no cloud synchronisation of your settings or macros. Cool Artifacts does not operate its own servers; the only data that leaves your device is the advertising and crash-diagnostics data processed by Google as described in Sections 1 and 2.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

All data stored by the App (device name, settings, session counters) is held in Android’s private app storage on your device. It is retained until you clear the App’s data via Android Settings or until you uninstall the App, at which point all locally stored data is permanently deleted. The Bluetooth pairing bond (managed by Android) can be removed separately via your device’s Bluetooth settings.

6. Data Security

Cool Artifacts does not operate its own servers, and the App transmits no data directly to us. The crash-diagnostics and advertising data described above is sent directly to Google over encrypted connections and handled under Google’s security programme. Locally stored data is protected by Android’s standard app sandboxing and is not accessible to other applications.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Your Rights Under GDPR (EU/EEA Users)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding personal data processed about you:

Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.

Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data. For data stored locally, this is achieved by clearing App data or uninstalling the App. For data processed by Google (AdMob and Firebase Crashlytics), please refer to Google’s Privacy Policy.

Right to restriction: Request that we restrict the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.

Right to object: Object to the processing of your personal data, in particular for advertising purposes (opt out via Android Ads settings).

Right to lodge a complaint: If you are in France, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés) at cnil.fr. Users in other EU member states may contact their national data protection authority.

The legal basis for processing locally stored data is the performance of the App’s service (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). The legal basis for crash-diagnostics data is our legitimate interest in keeping the App stable (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The App serves only non-personalised ads and does not use the Android Advertising ID; the legal basis for the limited device data used to deliver them (for example, frequency capping and fraud prevention) is our legitimate interest in funding the App (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can further limit ad tracking via your Android Ads settings.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

Cool Artifacts does not sell your personal information, and the App serves only non-personalised ads. Because the App does not use the Android Advertising ID for personalised advertising, we do not “sell” or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). For further information, contact us at the address below.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through an in-app notification on next launch. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
